Queensland Islands

There is only one place that you can visit, which will allow you to the World Heritage Great Barrier Reef, and that is Queensland, Australia. While you are visiting you can enjoy a cruise to the outer reef, snorkeling, scuba diving and tour of the reef from a glass bottom boat. If you are looking for an over night stay to the reef, the best place for you to go is the Fantasea’s Reefworld pontoon.

For the ultimate Great Barrier Reef encounter snorkel the reef directly from the beach at Lizard,Double,Green,Fitzroy,Heron,Wilson and Lady Elliot Islands. While Heron, Lady Elliot and Lizard islands are a must for scuba diving enthusiasts.

The Queensland Islands, full of lush rainforests, breath taking national parks and a variety of marine, bird and wildlife, is the place to go if you are a nature lover at heart and are looking to observe some of Australians native animals. Here you get to experience herons, sea turtles and dugongs in their natural habitat.

Depending on what you enjoy and what you are expecting from you holiday, there is an island that is sure to have what you are looking for. To visit the world largest sand island, a great place to explore is Fraser Island. To experience the thrill of hand feeding a wild whale, then you would want to visit the Tangalooma Island Resort. You can also observe nesting turtles from the months of November to May, on Lady Elliot, Heron or Wilson Islands. If your visit is taking place during the months of June to November, then you can experience the migrating of whales along the coastline of Queensland.

There are also an array of “fun in the sun” activities. For those that enjoy water sports, you can partake in the adrenalin rush of water skiing, jet skiing, catamaran sailing and windsurfing. For adventure on the land you can go on a 4WD down the sand dunes, or take a quad bike from the Tangalooma Resort. If you would prefer to enjoy a relaxing and peaceful holiday, you can sail through the Whitsunday Passage and venture to Whitehaven beach.

As you see, the Queensland Islands and Whitsundays is a great place for families to visit. They have activities for all ages, and many resorts offer Kids Club facilities, to keep the children entertained, while you enjoy some free relaxing time.
